Chinthaka Nanayakkara became a Brand Ambassador of Sweek (now no more) when the platform was only two years old. Since then he has organized five writing projects on behalf of Sweek (which he fondly calls as WRIPES), attracting dozens of young writers as well as hundreds of readers.
WRIPES are a unique type of writing projects that aim to encourage beginners to develop their stories as mini e-books through collaborative feedback. Then these books are made popular through their own team effort. Editing of mini e-books is carried out by Chinthaka himself and if the books interest him, he designs lovely book covers for them, lists them in his own personal blog, and features them in promotional videos - everything for free!
In 2018, WRIPES came to be recognized by the United Nations and hailed by Sweek Admin with special official blog posts. His WRIPE-4 on World Asteroid Day made him a guest blogger in the world-renowned Astronomy Magazine. Currently, WRIPE-6 is underway and you can join it as a Promoter by contacting Chinthaka at writesupp@gmail.com

How Many WRIPES have been organized so far?
Since the birth of this lustrous platform, Chinthaka has organized over five WRIPES, and to be precise, this is the 6th WRIPE, that has not only attracted hundreds of writers from across the world, but has also, gained popularity with its increase in the number of readers, supporters, and promoters. Ranging from issues pertinent to society, to celebrating the marvelous human life on Earth – WRIPE has it all!
WRIPE-1 (Based on International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust held on 27th January 2018)
Less than a century ago, horrific massacres during the second world war shrouded our planet with grief, sorrow, and the victimization of millions of innocent people. To commemorate this tragic episode in the history of mankind, our world recognizes the ‘International Holocaust Remembrance Day’ each year on 27th January. And, just about two years ago, amateur writers paid their respect to those who perished away with their literary skills exhibited through the first-ever WRIPE project – WRIPE -1. Interested to read them? Simply type ‘holocaust 2018’ as two words on Sweek, and the library of sensational writings will pour its heart out!
WRIPE-2 (Based on International Mother Language Day held on 21st February 2018)
Now, moving onto ‘imld’ (WRIPE -2)! Type it as one word in Sweek, and you’ll understand the role and significance of our mother language in our daily lives. Despite our attraction towards the universally accepted language, English, we mustn’t forget our ancestral roots as well as our mother tongue because they are what composed our being into existence. And so, to celebrate the ‘International Mother Language Day’ held each year on 21st February, amateur writers from across the world raised awareness, through the celebration of their mother languages. So, don’t forget to read them. You’ll be surprised! But wait, there’s more :)
WRIPE-3 (Based on World Water Day held on 22 March 2018)
Almost always, “We forget that the water cycle and the life cycle are one”, isn’t it? Today, we’re so caught up in our work, that we fail to realize, that unless we take responsibility and action, the wells will go dry, and so will our eyes. Despite pledging to save water on ‘World Water Day’ – celebrated each year on 22nd March – we, unfortunately, haven’t taken matters into our hands yet. And so, amateur writers from across the world took it upon their shoulders to raise awareness of this pressing issue through their sensational writing as a part of WRIPE – 3. Simply enter ‘unwater’ in Sweek, and get ready to pledge to save mother Earth.
WRIPE-4 (Based on International Asteroid Day held on 30th June 2018)
Watch out! Take shelter! A massive asteroid is due our way, destined to wipe out the human population from the face of Earth. Whether it be children, youngsters or even adults, the mystics of space never cease to fascinate the human race, which is why Chinthaka Nanayyakara came up with yet another interesting WRIPE. WRIPE – 4; which not only attracts readers and writers interested in Buddhist Realms and the spirits but also attracts those entranced by the beauty of the universe.
Celebrated each year on 30th June, ‘World Asteroid Day’ aims to raise awareness in the fields of science and mysticism. Marvelous, isn’t it? Wait till you type ‘asteroid’ as one word in Sweek and begin reading the e-books. I can promise you one thing – you’ll be transported into the land of wonder from the very beginning!
This is one of the most successful writing projects so far organized by Chinthaka. It won recognition from the world-renowned astronomy magazine which granted him to write as a guest blog post on the event.
And, it also made him a permanent guest blogger in the space-loving kids website OurUniverseForKids in 2020.
